The Sheffield Centre

Welcome to The Sheffield Centre, Church Army's research unit.
In changing times organisations need to be research-led in strategic decision making; today's church is no different. The Sheffield Centre, founded in 1997, plays a vital research role. We are a research team whose role is to discover, develop and communicate our findings in relation to mission & other pioneering Christian work to Church Army and the wider Church.
We research the planting of fresh expressions, evangelism to post-Christian culture and other things that come our way... leaving room for God to surprise us! We offer consultancy and resources in these areas too.
We do this through our relationships with pioneers, through speaking, publications such as the Encounters on the Edge series, and also through updates on our website, like the bi-annual Research Bulletin.
Our Call
We believe God’s call to us is to pass on the seeds of the future; these tiny signs, often at the edge of the church, are the best hope for re-imagining the whole Church in following the mission of Jesus. For more on our vision and values please go to the vision and values page, or click on the images at the bottom of every page.
